Helicopter crashes into roof of Cairns hotel in early hours of morning

Emergency services evacuated building and police told public to avoid area

A helicopter has crashed into the roof of a hotel in the centre of Cairns.

Queensland ambulance said emergency services were called to the Double Tree Hotel by Hilton hotel on the Esplanade, on the city’s main waterfront, around 1.50am on Monday.
