Hurricane Lane: huge downpours drench Hawaii as storm system nears – video

Hurricane Lane has wavered between category four and category five strength with sustained winds of up 250 km/ph and almost a metre of rain in parts. Something of this magnitude is rare for Hawaii, but authorities said they have been preparing for an event like this for a long time urging residents to stock up on water, food and medical supplies as the bad weather may last for up to five days
