U.S. Special Operations to receive 4 new MH-47G Chinook helicopters

The U.S. Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment will receive additional four new MH-47G Chinook helicopters, the US Department of Defense’s (DoD) said in a 28 June statement.

According to the DoDthe Boeing Co., Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, was awarded an $80,729,096.00 cost-plus-fixed-fee delivery order for four new build MH-47G rotary wing aircraft.

Fiscal procurement funds amounting to more than $80 million will be obligated at the time of the award. A majority of the work will be performed in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania.

The Boeing MH-47G is a special operations variant of the CH-47 ChinookThe MH-47G is used in heavy-lift missions such as the transportation of troops, ammunition, vehicles, equipment, fuel and supplies, as well as civil and humanitarian relief missions.

The helicopter can conduct long-range missions at low level, in adverse weather conditions during the day / at night. multi-role, heavy-lift helicopter.

The United States Army 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, also known as Night Stalkers, is a special operations force of the United States Army that provides helicopter aviation support for general purpose forces and special operations forces.
